Pondok Ikan Bakar Kalimantan
About This Spot
Stepping into Pondok Ikan Bakar Kalimantan feels like entering a welcoming, unhurried corner of West Java where the warmth of tradition and the simple joy of sharing a meal come effortlessly together. Nestled just a short drive from the Cimanggis toll exit, this spacious ikan bakar spot carries a relaxed kampung-style charm that invites you to linger over plates smoked with time and care.
The atmosphere hums softly with the ritual of grilling, where patience is an ingredient as essential as the tropical sambal that accompanies each dish. As you settle in, the scent of banana leaf-wrapped fish slowly cooking over glowing embers sets a comforting pace, one that seems designed to make every bite feel like a small celebration. The dining area, bright and expansive, offers ample space to enjoy the company you came with, while a generous parking area reflects how the place has grown alongside loyal visitors returning year after year.
Here, the menu feels deeply connected to the rhythms of home. Signature dishes like ikan patin grilled in bamboo blend smoky notes with the fresh kick of sambal dan lalapan, while side dishes such as karedok and tumis kangkung bring in crisp, vibrant contrasts. Drinks like es kelapa jeruk offer a refreshing counterpoint, rounding out the experience with simple, balanced flavors that feel rooted in local comfort.
Service embodies the spirit of genuine hospitality — attentive without haste, allowing moments to unfold naturally between welcoming smiles and thoughtful gestures. Though the flow of a full house can slow the pace at times, it never detracts from the feeling that you’re part of a shared ritual, a quiet community gathered around the charcoal flames.
Whether arriving after a nearby golf session or venturing from the city’s bustle, Pondok Ikan Bakar Kalimantan invites you to slow down and savor the subtle interplay of smoke, spice, and human connection. It’s less about rush and more about savoring the small, joyful moments that emerge when food is cooked with heart and served with care.

visited a restaurant where the main course is grilled fish. It takes around five minutes to get to from the Cimanggis toll exit Along with some of their speciality beverages, we ordered grilled catfish and chicken satay. We were patient because it took some time for the food to reach our table—possibly because it was grilled. Even in the slightest details, like helping to shoot our pictures, the staff goes above and beyond to assist us While we advise against visiting during lunch, we do suggest it for family dining

Had lunch here after a golf session nearby and tried their Ikan Patin Bakar Bambu — absolutely worth it. The fish was fresh, grilled perfectly in banana leaf, and topped with a generous layer of their special sambal that really stands out. Also ordered a few side dishes like sambal kangkung and fried chicken — all flavorful and nicely done. Friendly service and cozy kampung-style vibe. Definitely one of the better spots for ikan bakar in the area.

This is a perfect place to enjoy Ikan Bakar Bumbu Patin in a hefty portion! Other menu tasted great too: Ayam Kampung Goreng and Ikan Asin. They have lots of staff and parking area for cars. The service was great as well. However, too bad that during my visit there was full of flies flying around the table and the candles they provided did not help much.

Oct 24 Sunday lunch 2 of us Its been about 12-14 years ago when we visited this restaurant. Now the place looks bigger and brighter and more beautiful. Since it was Sunday lunch time so it was pretty much crowded. We arrived at around 12pm, after we made the order then waited to be seated for about 10 minutes. Service was good but quite slow at the beginning maybe because of the crowdedness or the place. Foods all still exceptional. Especially their ikan bakar patin bambu. Their most famous and unique menu. Just be prepared all the foods came at the spicy taste. Do try the kalimantan ice coffee. Very refreshing and taste good.
